NCEA Level 3 Chemistry (8CHE)
NCEA Level 3 chemistry goes much more in-depth with the topics introduced in 7CHE (organic chemistry, properties and structure of matter, thermochemistry) while also introducing brand new, exciting, and challenging topics (exoplanet spectroscopy and redox chemistry).
Students must have earned credits in NCEA Level 2 chemistry standards in order to enrol in this course.
91388 Demonstrate understanding of spectroscopic data in chemistry (3 credits, internal)
91391 Demonstrate understanding of the properties of organic compounds (5 credits, external, continues in Term 2)
91391 Demonstrate understanding of the properties of organic compounds (5 credits, external, continuation from Term 1)
91393 Demonstrate understanding of oxidation-reduction processes (3 credits, internal).
91390 Demonstrate understanding of thermochemical principles and the properties of particles and substances (5 credits, external)
Revision for exams
The following standard can be completed and assessed at any time throughout the year on your own time outside of class, and it is optional whether you want to complete it or not:
91389 Demonstrate understanding of chemical processes in the world around us (3 credits, internal, optional)
Courses offered per block.
