DEBKAT T4 2020 STEAM/Play/Discovery
See Link to planning below.
This competency is about being actively involved in communities. Communities include family, whānau, and school and those based, for example, on a common interest or culture. They may be drawn together for purposes such as learning, work, celebration, or recreation. They may be local, national, or global. This competency includes a capacity to contribute appropriately as a group member, to make connections with others, and to create opportunities for others in the group.
Students who participate and contribute in communities have a sense of belonging and the confidence to participate within new contexts. They understand the importance of balancing rights, roles, and responsibilities and of contributing to the quality and sustainability of social, cultural, physical, and economic environments.

Identifying patterns and trends
Communicating findings, using data displays.
Use Statistical Literacy
Communicate the findings and conclusions of a statistical investigation.
Comment on the effectiveness of the investigation and chosen procedure and displays.
Probability

Moving from stage 6 to stage 7 in Numeracy Project
Students will take part in workshops three times a week, developing understanding and strategies for solving multiplication and division problems. Students will reinforce and consolidate learning with 3 independently directed sessions online at Mathsbuddy, selected to build on workshop learning and appropriate number knowledge/strategy practise.
Strategies we will be looking to develop include
Using standard place value to solve multiplication problems, (distributive property)
NUMERACY AND PROBLEM SOLVING
Develop confidence in Number knowledge
Know basic multiplication and division facts
Know counting sequences for whole numbers
Know how many tenths- tens- hundreds and thousands are in whole numbers
Know fractions and percentages in everyday use
Use a range of additive and multiplicative strategies with whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages
Understand what a ratio is and how it is written and read
Apply ratio understanding to solving problems
Individual IEM goal
We will start the term by focusing on developing our skills structuring and creating narrative stories. We will use the Story Telling Schools process, listening to stories, retelling frequently and creating picture plans to help us when we write.
We will also look at using a similar process to write factual reports, integrating our space inquiry learning to write about the planets and the dwarf planets in our solar system.
In term 3 we will work with Numicon book 1 and 2. We will work in small groups for four LA guided numeracy sessions each week. We will supplement Numicon activities with elements from the Stage 2 Numeracy Project material to support our learning.
Alongside our small group lessons, we will use Seesaw online activities, games, worksheets and book work for additional activities that support and enhance our learning.
In term 4 we will work with Numicon book 2.
We are learning to use, count and order numbers forwards and backwards to 20, know groupings with and within 5 and use materials to do simple addition and subtraction.
In term 4 we will work with Numicon book 2. We will work in small groups for three LA guided numeracy sessions each week. We will supplement Numicon activities with elements from the Stage 3 Numeracy Project material to support our learning.
Alongside our small group lessons, we will use Seesaw online activities, games, worksheets and book work for additional activities that support and enhance our learning.
We are learning to use imaging, counting on and counting back as well as using skip counting to solve repeated addition problems.
We will be reading 4 x weekly to establish book knowledge and reading processes.
