Participating and contributing

This competency is about being actively involved in communities. Communities include family, whānau, and school and those based, for example, on a common interest or culture. They may be drawn together for purposes such as learning, work, celebration, or recreation. They may be local, national, or global. This competency includes a capacity to contribute appropriately as a group member, to make connections with others, and to create opportunities for others in the group.

Students who participate and contribute in communities have a sense of belonging and the confidence to participate within new contexts. They understand the importance of balancing rights, roles, and responsibilities and of contributing to the quality and sustainability of social, cultural, physical, and economic environments.

Working at late stage 3 of the numeracy project: Addition and subtraction to 100 by imaging, whole numbers to 100, forwards and backwards in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s to 100, doubles to 20 and the matching halves and multiplication with materials. Counting from one by imaging to advanced counting.

Improving fitness

In this course I will be taking students in various physical activities and sports in order to increase their fitness and physical activity, I will make these classes fun and make sure students have a say in what sports they do and don’t want to be involved in. My goal for this class is to increase their fitness and change their attitude towards physical activity to a positive view so that they have been encouraged to take a sense of responsibility and participate in physical activities or sports not only at school but outside of school as well.

To use our local environment as a place of learning through a daily walk:
To be healthy and active people.
To learn about road safety and personal responsibility when out in Public.
To be together as a group and learn about each other.
To understand our local environment, what it is used for, who lives there and who we share our city and world with.
To gain number knowledge, improve oral language and inquire about the things we see.
To improve our knowledge of sustainability, growth, seasons and land use.
