Orange/Turquoise Reading Group T3 Kiwi (Jason)

Our Weekly reading planning will generally be here at the beginning of each week. Due to changes in the programme we may not always read every book listed every week. Learning intentions are a guide as to what we may discuss, but this may change depending on students interests and needs during the reading session.

Students reading at Orange should be aware of multiple decoding strategies, but are still developing their use when they encounter unknown words. Fluency and expression are still developing and students at this level recognise the need to read with fluency when reading aloud, and will be able to do so with multiple readings of a text.

Students reading at this level will generally read with an LA 3 times per week.

Learning Area: 
To Do List: 
Stretch unfamiliar words using: blends, digraphs, chunks, rhyme and word endings.
Read High Frequency words quickly and make links to other words.
Read on ⥂ to gather more information so I can predict with some accuracy.
⥄ Re-read to self-monitor and selfcorrect errors.
Discuss the character, setting, problems and make more predictions.
Make the story more interesting by noticing more print conventions & using punctuation effectively.
Read the story fluently and with accurate phrasing.
