Level 1- shape, position and orientation (Group A)

Over the course of two and a half week we will explore 2D shapes by sorting and comparing them to develop our own language to describe them.

We will learn how to give and follow instructions for movement that involve distances, directions, and half or quarter turns.

We will also learn how to describe our position relative to a person or object.

Name and identify 2D shapes
Describe 2D shapes - number of sides, corners, other attributes
Find 2D shapes in the school environment. Photograph using iPads and share.
Play shape games eg Hullabaloo, Kei a wai?, snap
Create 2D shapes using nets
Using a toy, demonstrate and describe positional language - up, down, under, on, behind, beside.
Using a toy demonstrate and describe full, half and quarter turns.
Give and follow instructions for movement of a "robot" which include turns, direction and distance.
