Learn and use the decoding strategies listed below to help us read. Understand what we are reading and talk about/ask questions about it.
Students will read with their LA 4 times per week.
To Do List:
Say or stretch unfamiliar words using: blends, digraphs, chunks, rhyme and word endings.
Recognise High Frequency words and make links to other words.
Read on ⥂ to gather more information - thinking about what would sound right and make sense.
Re-read ⥹ to cross check. Look ✓ ? Sound ✓ ? Make Sense ?
Identify the error, and correct it.
Talk about how I worked out the problem.
Notice word endings, rhyme and letter clusters.
Discuss characters, settings and problems and make some predictions.
Ask questions about new vocabulary and the story.
Make the story more interesting by stressing words in bold print and using punctuation effectively.
Read my story again fast and fluent.
