In Kowhai English, students will first study a range of short stories. They will learn how to make meaning of the main ideas and themes in these stories, and learn how to take concise, relevant notes as they study the texts.
Following this, students will complete a close study of a novel (Coraline), analysing and documenting their responses to the ideas expressed by the text. They will also analyse how the novel has been adapted into a film.
