Building on the understandings developed in Term One, students will undertake studies of social actions taken by others to make a difference to communities, nations and internationally. Social Studies explores contemporary issues and the ways in which people make decisions about the challenges they face. Currently in the world many people face issues associated with: the refugee crisis in Europe, the decisions and prioritisation of health services; the influence of social media, the ideological positions of world leaders; the values and belief systems involved in the support or resistance against fundamentalist organisations like ISIS.
The focus for the five weeks will be on conduct inquiring social inquiry on a topic social justice issue, the rights and responsibilities of nations, or the ideologies of world leaders.
