Palaeontology is the study of the history of life on Earth as based on fossils.

Fossils are the remains of plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, and single-celled living things that have been replaced by rock material or impressions of organisms preserved in rock.

We will explore big ideas such as how did the earth form and how did life begin from a scientific perspective.

We will then explore ideas around how living things have evolved and developed over millions of years and what evidence there is to support these.

You will also get the chance to learn the skills needed to be a palaeontologist that digs for fossils and artefacts and put these to the test in an ultimate dig event.

You will need a 1B5 book as we will be keeping a field guide of our exploration and research that we collect as we progress through the course
