In this course students will be working at level 3 and 4 of the curriculum with a focus on:

integrating sources of information and prior knowledge with developing confidence to make sense of increasingly varied and complex texts

using an increasing vocabulary to make meaning

understanding that the order and organisation of words, sentences, paragraphs, and images contribute to and affect meaning in a range of texts

Writing:
adds or changes details and comments to support ideas, showing thoughtful selection in the process
organises and sequences ideas and information for a particular purpose or effect
uses a variety of sentence structures, beginnings, and lengths for effect.

We will do this by reading and writing about Predator Free Aotearoa 2050 for the first half of the term and reading and writing for every session, culminating in a research project on a pest of the students choice. This will be used for self and peer reflections to support agency and feedback.
In the second half of the term students will be focussing on writing and the above objectives and reading, practicing and performing a script with a focus on oral language and collaborative practice.
