2022 Term 2: Writing Program for Level 1 and 2 (Jess)

In workshops that utilise learning in the community students will subsequently create planned narratives that include;

1) Planning scaffolds.
2) Compound and complex sentences.
3) Correct early punctuation.
4) Paragraphs that express a single idea.

Students will participate in specific writing workshops concurrently in the HB four days a week and on Seesaw to build these skills across the term.
Students will also participate in specific punctuation workshops to hone these skills.

In workshops that support the development of rich, detailed language with specific vocab students will create an imaginative and detailed story that involves 'showing and not telling.'
This will encompass:
1) Using hamburger scaffolds and character maps
2) Using a word circles to build descriptive language.
3) Using simple narratives that become more complex for level 2 writers.

These fiction workshops will include
1) Planning scaffolds.
2) Compound and complex sentences.
3) Correct early punctuation.
4) Paragraphs that express a single idea and paragraphs that link for level 2 writers.

Students will participate in specific writing workshops concurrently in the HB four days a week and on Seesaw to build these skills across the term.
Students will also participate in specific punctuation workshops to hone these skills.

Students will also be in daily structured literacy workshops to support grammar development.

Students will also create complimentary sculptures and artwork that supports the development of dragon inspired writing.
