Link to Course Overview
In this course, we will study a range of texts (written and film) through the lens of English. In doing so, we'll explore ideas relating to media, psychology and other subject areas before undertaking assessments.
In Term 1, we worked on a novel study of Bird Box by Josh Malerman. This will continue in the beginning of Term 2, so if you are new to the class, please ensure you've read up to Chapter 35.
The class will start with the completion of a self-selected assessment. We'll engage in a few initial activities to help you make your choice, but then you'll be expected to engage in and complete an assessment based on the study of the text (probably Birdbox).
Later in the term, we'll move onto our next text study which may be a film or a selection of short films, or some other form of media, determined by the class. Come along with a keen interest to be involved in the class discussions and a willingness to participate in and influence your learning experience.
There will be a strict no devices rule in this class, unless specifically required, so please make sure you're able to manage yourself with this in mind. You'll be expected to engage in discussions and share your thoughts. If you absolutely must be on TikTok/Instagram/taking selfies, then this is not the class for you!
