Softball is New Zealand's second most popular summer sport and we have been World Champions six times! Playing regular sport will help us accept challenge in a movement context and promote our own personal well-being, especially when we get to walk to the park with our friends on a sunny day!
Through a softball context we will develop universal skills like catching, throwing, striking and teamwork. The majority of this will happen through game play situations in an encouraging environment.
On those occasions when the weather is against us, we will stay back at school and have theory sessions. these could include focuses on mental skills, nutrition and hydration, bio-mechanics, physiology and working with others.
Essential vocabulary: pitching, catching, throwing, strike, foul ball, ball, forced run, home run, back stop, bases, infield, outfield, and bunting.
