The NZ Opera presented La Traviata in english, set in a kiwi fish n chip shop. It was designed to engage students year 4 onwards.
The students all participated in this cultural experience and all loved it immensely.
The students experienced opera and story telling through drama.

"On the 6th Of April we had a performance at our school by a group from New Zealand Opera. They performed the Elixir of Love, a 200 year old opera which has been modified for kids. This version was in English, (not Italian) and was set in a fish and chip shop in small town Aotearoa.

It was amazing! The singers were fantastic, their voices were so beautiful. We were captivated, not just by the singing but also the story.

Adina is a small town girl who longs for a more exciting life. She meets a movie star called Belcore, who asked her to marry him. But Nemorino, who works in the fish and chip shop, is in love with Adina. He has heard about a magic potion, "the elixir of love" which he hopes to get to make Adina fall in love with him. Nemorino meets Dulcamara, the maker of potions who sells him the potion, which he drinks.

If you want to find out what happened you could ask us. It was great!
