Part One of Boyle River
Sarah has already completed:
Lifecare Advanced Workplace First Aid course as part of preparation for Boyle River:

6401 Provide first aid - L2 1 credit
6400 Manage first aid in an emergency situation - L3 2 credits
Completed:
Site Safety health and Safety course in preparation for Boyle River.
On completion will have following Unit Standards:
497 Demonstrate knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements L1 3 credits

Gateway Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre Work Experience Part 2 to be held at Boyle River 26th-30th July 2021 (Mon 10am to Fri 1pm approx)
On completion will have following Unit Standards:
3491v7 Write a report L3 4 credits
425v6 Experience day tramps L2 3 credits
426v6 Experience camping L2 3 credits
1312v7 Give oral instructions in the workplace L3 3 credits
20159v2 Gather and apply weather information to an outdoor recreation activity
L2 2 credits
4573v6 Communicate in the outdoors using a two-way radio L2 1 credit
10780v5 Complete a work experience placement L1 2 credits
3490v6 Complete an incident report L1 2 credits
During Part 3 (the work placement week) students
will:
• Observe the instructors or rangers in action
• Give oral instructions to others (US 1312, Level 3,
3 credits)
• Apply risk management strategies (part
requirement for US 13377, Level 3, 4 credits)
• Experience tramping and camping (US 425 & 426,
level 2, 6 credits)
• Show for work in an appropriate fashion (e.g., on
time with the correct clothing and equipment
and thus ready to start) and implemented the
strategies associated with their goals. Thus they
will successfully complete the work placement
(Unit Standard 10780, Level 1, 2 credits)
During Part 4, while back at school, students will:
• Write a report (US 3491, Level 3, 4 credits)
about the hazards and risks associated with
human activity in the outdoor environment
(part requirement for US 13377, Level 3, 4
credits) and submit it to the Boyle’s Centre
Manager through the Gateway Coordinator.
The due date will be negotiated but must be
no more than 10 school days post the
conclusion of Part 3.
