2021 Term 2: Kōwhai Reading Level 4 Melva
We will focus on one texts three x a week. The LA will read with the children and support the modeling of decoding and comprehension strategies.
Students also use independent reading skills, where they apply the strategies they have learned over the week.
Guided reading sessions could will use the Sharp Reading strategy to read aloud together and individually share comprehension and then one of four follow up thoughts,
visualization, links to prior learning, links to text, predictions.
Through these strategies, students will use level 3 skills to:
Select and use a range of processing and comprehension strategies; re-checking, re-reading, predicting cross text meaning, inferring.
Integrate information and prior knowledge with developing confidence.
Identify main and subsidiary ideas making connections in texts.
