1.1 Level 3 Mathematics including Geometry and Measurement
This class is for students working within Level 3 who are not quite ready for Level 4, or who have gaps in their mathematical knowledge or understanding of mathematical concepts.
We will use a range of additive and simple multiplicative strategies with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages. Students will have access to Numicon (a materials based math resource) to solve problems and help establish an understanding of mathematical concepts. This class employs a lot of repetition to make sure students have a sound understanding before moving to new topics.
Students will need a Math book (1H5), pencil, rubber, ruler and other own stationery, including a glue stick.
Specific Objectives for Term 1:
(1) Know how many tenths, tens, hundreds, and thousands are in whole numbers.
(2) Know basic multiplication and division facts.
(1) Use a co-ordinate system or the language of direction and distance to specify locations and describe paths.
(2) Describe the transformations (reflection, rotation, translation, or enlargement) that have mapped one object onto another.
