In term 1 we choose to take part in a 3D design and printing PINS with Jason.

Over the three days we learnt about the design process, how to use the iPad version of 123D to create our 3D designs, and how to print them off.

We designed our creations by drawing them, then modeled them in playdough, thought about the shapes we would need, then translated our design to 3D using the app.

It was pretty tricky to learn how to use 123D and it took lots of thinking about shapes and how they went together. We also had to have a lot of patience to be able to design what we really wanted. Moving shapes around, joining them, and subtracting them was a lot harder than we expected and at times was really frustrating! We all stuck with it though, and designed and printed some awesome things.

It was really interesting seeing the 3D printer in action printing out stuff. It was REALLY SLOW though!
