Strategy (Add/Sub)
Using standard place value (100’s, 10’s, 1’s), e.g. 724 – 206 = † as 724 – 200 = 524, 524 – 6 = 518.
Compensating from tidy numbers, e.g. 834 – 479 = † as 834 – 500 + 21 = 355.
Reversing the operation, e.g. 834 – 479 = † as 479 + † = 834.
