There's no 'I' in team
‘Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships’ - Michael Jordan.
In this course you will develop your ability to work with others in a team situation. You will take on a role - coach, captain, vice captain, referee, manager etc, and understand the impact that each of these roles have on the effective functioning of a team. Students will be given some choice as to which physical activity they would like to participate in. The assessment requires you to demonstrate interpersonal skills and to complete a diary about the impact of using these skills on your team. This assessment will run for the first 7-8 weeks of the term.
Towards the end of the term we will begin another assessment which looks at what influences you to participate in physical activity. Is it because you love playing the game? Does it run in the family? Is it healthy to go for a walk each day? Should we know how to swim, living so close to the beach? Does the warm weather makes you want to exercise?
For everyone there are different reasons why they do or do not participate in physical activity. You will take part in a number of different activities and discuss what influenced you. This assessment will continue throughout the school year.
Please come prepared for both practical and theory lessons each time.
