Literacy: Out and About
Using Õtautahi/Christchurch as inspiration, we'll get out and about in the city to find people, places and events to inspire our reading and writing this term. Our writing focus includes basic skills such as such as punctuation, spelling, and sentence types. This will prepare you to write an awesome story (stories?) of your own. Of course, we'll read books together and on our own because reading is fun, and it helps us become better writers. This class is being taught by Libby Boyd and Kate Armour.
-leave school once a week to visit the library, the musuem, the art gallery, the botanic gardens...; and
-do lots of fun reading and writing.
You will need:
- an exercise book and something to write with; and
- a library card
Note for students, parents and HBLAs: this course is aimed at students working around level 3 and 4 of the English/literacy curriculum.
