Softball
Softball is New Zealand's second most popular summer sport and we have been World Champions six times! Playing regular sport will help us accept challenge in a movement context and promote our own personal well-being, especially when we get to walk to the park with our friends on a sunny day!
Through a softball context we will develop universal skills like catching, throwing, striking and teamwork. The majority of this will happen through game play situations in an encouraging environment.
Two sessions a week we will walk to Hagley Park for practical sessions and the other session will have a theory focus in the classroom.
Essential vocabulary: pitching, catching, throwing, strike, foul ball, ball, forced run, home run, back stop, bases, infield, outfield, and bunting.
