National Science Challenges and Biodiversity Crisis
Science has been in the media a lot this year and has also featured in the debates of the current election. The government has defined 11 National Science Challenges that it tries to solve:
A Better Start; Ageing Well; Building Better Homes, Towns and Cities; Healthier Lives, High-Value Nutrition; New Zealand's Biological Heritage; Our Land and Water; Resilience to Nature's Challenges; Science for Technological Innovation; Sustainable Seas; The Deep South.
In this course, we will look at this challenges in more detail to understand what is currently being done about them. We will focus in particular on what the Green Party terms our Biodiversity Crisis - the fact that many of our native plants and animals are in danger of going extinct.
