Gold plus Reading Group T4 2020

We are learning to read a text and find meaning contained within it.
We will look at the Sharp Reading ITTM programme and trying out Hilton Ayrey, we will see how that works for us as we start the term. We may move to Chapter books later on.

Gold reading skills:

I can use my reading strategies independently.
I can make my reading sound fluent, phrased and expressive.
I can skim read to locate specific information.
I can summarise a text in my own words.
I can discuss the difference between fact and fiction.
I can point out: table of contents, index, diagrams, glossary, maps, headings, chapters.
I can identify concepts such as: setting,, theme, plot.

We will read a mixture of chapter books and school journals, as well as non-fiction and fiction based off of students interests.
Our follow-ups to texts will be self-chosen and self-directed, posted to Seesaw.

Attend 3x reading workshops each week.
