Integrated Literacy Term 4 2020 - HB Piwakawaka
This term we will be following an integrated approach to literacy. We have learners with a range of abilities from very emergent to those with increasing independence and confidence.
In our literacy sessions we will use big books and experiential activities to prompt, particularly, our writing. We will use shared stories to develop our knowledge and understanding of elements of writing and reading, oral language and comprehension. We will also use the Storytelling process for some of our sessions.
We are learning (or improving on) how to correctly write the alphabet and know the letter sounds. We are developing our phonics skills to sound out letters we can hear in words, and we are learning to write an increasing amount of Fast Words to be able to craft sentences. Some of us can write stories of increasing length. We are learning about full stops, exclamation marks and other simple punctuation as well as capital letter use. We are learning words on Fast Words cards 1 - 4.
Each week we will have four phonics, handwriting, Fast Words and reading sessions as a part of our literacy programme, alongside writing.
Please see the Fast Words lists below.
