2020 Term 3 Literacy Melva HB in Ruru
In this term the HB will focus on instructional writing followed by explanation writing with a focus on reports of real world science opportunities.
The HB will also use programs from the LTA to support this process including
1) On the Rocks - Te toka tai moana: Explore the rocky seashore and intertidal zone for creatures at Taylors Mistake or Sumner Beach.
2) Wetlands, waders and water boatmen: Ngā kaitia, ngā kaikauhoe me ngā kūkūtai. Take a trip to Travis Wetland, Christchurch's largest freshwater wetland and a precious habitat for native wetland plants and creatures.
The SLO's include
Organise texts, using simple structures to express ideas.
Uses knowledge of word and sentence order to communicate meaning in simple texts begins to sequence ideas and information,
Uses sentences with variation in beginnings and compound/ complex structure
Use punctuation effectively including paragraphs.
