4LITc - Becoming a Film Critic
We all love films, but how can we make them even more interesting? In this class, we're going to learn how to analyse them in depth which will make them more interesting, and more enjoyable! After choosing a film, we'll spend the next few weeks picking it apart and analysing as many aspects as we can! Through this you'll learn how to talk about all aspects of film, that will come in handy as you get closer to NCEA.
As this class will be largely discussion based, you will be required to participate in conversations we have about the film. You'll get the most out of this if you are attentive and engaged, and so everyone will be required to use devices responsibly.
We'll start by watching a small section of five or six films (while talking about them) and then have a vote to determine which one we continue with. If you have any burning suggestions, feel free to bombard me and they can join the initial list of possibilities!
For those who are joining the class, Google Classroom code is fuf74t2. We'll be trialing a no devices rule for Term 3: what that means is that we'll put phones and laptops on a table at the front of the class, and they won't be touched until the session is finished. If you don't think this is something you can manage, please discuss other options with your HBLA.
I'm hoping this will encourage greater class discussions and involvement in the interesting topics we're going to be working on this term.
