2020 Term 2 Reading Level 2B-2P Beth Wolves
Due to the change in circumstances with the pandemic, the program has been split into two components of reading LAs providing reading content and HBLAs providing literacy content.
With this in mind.
The programme at this time will provide a junior journal story each week. When I am able to provide this, I will set a reading task accompanied by a recording of myself reading a story. These activities will have writing activities alongside them.
Other curriculum areas will also tie into these sessions to create rich learning experiences.
Reading will be happening twice weekly.
Reading has four distinct characteristics through every week and lead the session.
This terms reading SLO's are
-Modelled: goal: picture prompt, sounding out beginning sounds.
-Shared: goal: sounding out, chunking, reading on, return.
-Guided: goal: small groups to listen to individual reading skills, later supporting writing of ideas from the text.
-Independent activities: goal: refresh the above goals and embed them.
Children will be able to transfer the knowledge gained from their reading sessions to their writing. This term's Writing SLOs are:
- Create coherent sentences
- Organize my ideas
- Use punctuation correctly
- Use topic-specific vocab
- Use rich, descriptive vocab
