We are running an integrated literacy program where writing and reading are combined in the same session, 4 times a week. Other curriculum areas will also tie into these sessions to create rich learning experiences.

Reading has four distinct characteristics through every week and lead the session.
This terms reading SLO's are
-Modelled: goal: picture prompt, sounding out beginning sounds.
-Shared: goal: sounding out, chunking, reading on, return.
-Guided: goal: small groups to listen to individual reading skills, later supporting writing of ideas from the text.
-Independent activities: goal: refresh the above goals and embed them.

Children will be able to transfer the knowledge gained from their reading sessions to their writing. This term's Writing SLOs are:
- Create coherent sentences
- Organize my ideas
- Use punctuation correctly
- Use topic-specific vocab
- Use rich, descriptive vocab

Over the term, children will focus on these forms of writing:
- Descriptive writing
- Narrative
- Poetry
- Explanation
