1.1 The Healthcare Industry
Have you ever wondered about the term “Healthcare Industry”? What is it, how does it work, is it fair and more importantly, what does it mean for you and your health?
In this course we will explore these questions and ask, and answer more about how health services are organised in New Zealand and how this impacts our own health. We will be visiting some health care providers and have the opportunity to talk with people in the “industry” while also looking at our own health needs and where we might go to access health services.
This is a Level 5 Social Sciences course with links to the health curriculum and will continue in 1.2. Please bring a workbook/folder and paper and your own writing materials and resources to this class. There will be individual and collaborative aspects of work, including discussion, investigation and questioning.
