We will be working on number knowledge and strategies to move students from stage 5 (Early Part Whole) to stage 6 (Advanced Part-Whole) in their understandings of fractions and decimals. We are also focused this term on developing understanding of time; units, reading analogue clocks., 24 hour time and time zones..
Good skills to practise could still include...
- practising times table facts for 2, 5 and 10 if not automatic
- learning and practising the other times tables
- Read any number to 1000, 10 000, 1000 000
- Count forward and/or backwards in 1's, 10's and 100's
- Say the number before and/or after 1 more, 10 more, 100 more
- Order numbers to 1000
- Skip count forward and backwards in 3s
- Know numbers of 10s in decades
- Know groupings within 20
- Know teen number facts
- Know multiples of 10 that add to 100
- Know doubles and halves to 20
- Know addition facts to 20
- Read unit fractions
- Order unit fractions
- Addition - solve addition problems by making 10s or using doubles
