In our school, there are a lot of people starting to play strategic board games. I’m of the opinion that aside from being fun, board games introduce a bunch of other thinking skills. Long term planning? Negotiation? Math and literacy? Cooperation and teamwork? Absolutely.

These sessions are designed to INTRODUCE the hobby of board gaming to those who haven’t yet experienced it outside of basic games like Snakes and Ladders or Monopoly. (Dice have more sides than six? Huh? What the hell is the fuss about Secret Hitler, anyway? )

If you are ALREADY an avid board gamer, then you’ll be expected to TEACH these games rather than play them yourself. You’ve already been converted, so now it’s your job to get others enthused about games, and convince them that it's a worthwhile hobby.

Caveat: These sessions will be ENTIRELY DEVICE-FREE. Indeed, we’re going to ceremonially place our devices on a table at the start of a session, and not pick them up until the end. If that’s a problem for you, choose another option.
