This term HB Ruru are looking at special places and what they mean to us. We are threading our writing programme through this.

To Do List: 
Discuss the Treaty of Waitangi and why it is special to NZ
Read "Weslandia" and discuss
Create a 3D structure of a special place and write a piece of writing describing it
Follow the Talk to Write approach using the story Te Ika a Maui.
Create a painting based on Peter Gossage's art
Visit the museum - Ancient People, New Land and European Settlement
Discuss how the we fit into the world and beyond
Look at where our ancestors came from - create Mihi and Kowhaiwhai
Create a kowhaiwhai panel based on our family.
Visit the Art gallery to look at Landscapes of Canterbury and create our own
Measure out and draw the Charlotte Jane ship. Imagine we are on it
Plan how to make either a boat or a house. Build it in the makerspace.
Complete a reflection sheet on our inquiry.
