This course is part of a semester-long programme, designed to support students wanting to achieve NCEA level one in music. We will be looking at developing essential practical skills in music, including ear-training, improvisation, song-writing, practice and performance. Assessment for terms one and two will focus on 'music works' composition and performance standards. Students wanting to sit NCEA level one should have been learning an instrument (or singing) for at least two years.
You will need: manuscript paper, a folder, a refill pad, your instrument and access to a laptop.
This course will require a fair bit of work outside of class time. Students wanting to sit NCEA music should be doing a minimum of half an hour of daily practice on their instrument, and receiving instrumental tuition outside of class (either privately or through the itinerant music program here at school).
