Okay, this is really a course about the chemistry concepts that were crucial to the development of modern technology you know and love.
Students will complete a report about the chemistry behind a technological application that meets "the needs of society", which can be assessed for two NCEA credits (internal assessment AS90931).
Examples include: food and beverage chemistry, acids and bases in the home and/or in industry, sources of energy, cosmetics, detergents, pharmaceuticals, and more. Your chosen technological application must be based on situations that involve chemical principles.
