In this course, we ask whether the cruise ships and freedom campers who flock to Akaroa Harbour promote a sustainable use of that environment, or not. Our first step is to find out why tourists are attracted to the area and what they can do there. We then explain the consequences of tourism on the people, communities and natural environment of the harbour.

We'll organise a field trip to Akaroa to gather information, interview locals and get a better understanding of the environment we are studying.

Our assessment is internal and involves creating a brochure and writing a short report.

This course is suitable for those who haven't taken geography in 1.1. Contact Kate via email: Kate.armour@unlimited.school.nz for a small piece of catch up homework!
