In this course we will examine how the "voice" of an author affects the meaning of a text, particularly through documentaries. We will start the year on a rather depressing note with Werner Herzog's brilliant documentary, Grizzly Man. This is the tragic story of a fascinating but troubled young man and his unconventional method of self-destruction. Through oddball interviews and found footage of this energetic bear enthusiast, we are presented with several ideas and left to either accept the director's perspective or reject it.
Throughout this term, I hope to cover some great documentaries with the intention of inspiring interesting conversations.
***Please note that some of these films are rated M and will only be "suitable for mature audiences" ***
