Great Speeches
Link to Course Overview

Can you recognise from which famous speech each quote is taken?
"...he doesn't need a motion in the House of Representatives, he needs a mirror. That's what he needs."
"He iwi tahi tātou – we are one people."
"We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!"
"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
Not to worry, by the end of this course you will be able to! We will not only study great speeches from history, but examine what made them so great. We will learn how to can grab people's attention, hold their focus, excite or incite them, and move them with only our words. Toward the end of this course you will be supported to find a speech, analyse, and produce an essay deconstructing its elements. Maybe take what you've learned and write your own speech - empower people and you might even create a movement!
We will also review exam prep skills and tie up any loose assessments.
