Purple Reading Group T4 Kiwi (Jason)
Our Weekly reading planning will generally be here at the beginning of each week. Due to changes in the programme we may not always read every book listed every week. Learning intentions are a guide as to what we may discuss, but this may change depending on students interests and needs during the reading session.
Students at this level will be reading with fluency and expression, and with a increasing bank of sight words will be able to read accurately, only applying decoding strategies when needed. They should be able to use the sounding out, chunking, and re-reading/reading-on strategies with little prompting (though may still be unable to decode some words).
Reading for meaning and developing comprehension become more important at this level, while it is also important to maintain daily sustained personal reading.
Students at this level generally read with an LA 2 times per week. Students are expected to read independently everyday from their "browse box" or the library for at least 20 minutes, and to complete at least one literacy station per day.
