2017 term 2 maths - add/sub stage 4

Students will take part in workshops at least three times a week. They will also have opportunities to reinforce and consolidate learning with independent practise sessions on Prototec and with follow up tasks provided by LA.
We will be looking to use real world contexts to reinforce understandings and to have these sessions be as fun and engaging as possible!

Reflection - end of term 2:
We did a real push with knowing bonds to 10 inside out that began to show signs of sticking. Place Value made most sense to these students when modelled with unit cubes to show going up over the ten. This understanding stills needs development.
Strategy understanding took a real jump in the last two weeks of our sessions, when all students showed they could part-whole solve addition problems. Many of the students were very proud of this new skill - two of them independently chose to show their ability during our IEM, and several mentioned it in end of day reflections. Their comments and demeanour were very positive during this time - it was a great way to end the term.

Next steps:
Come to grips with Place Value; each session to include Place Value House game or similar.
Continue to reinforce bonds to 10 and to 20 with short fact practise each session.
Reinforce part-wholing for addition, introduce for subtracting.
