To work on skills I THINK THIS MEANS, silent reading and comprehension focus.
To engage with independent activities to reinforce and practise skills developing in group work.

reflection on term's learning and teaching 7 March 2017

what worked?
Students enjoy our reading sessions.Journals provide a rich enough choice of texts that there is always something to engage the group. The "ITTM" strategy is feeling much more natural and efficient this time around.

What didn't work?
It took a week or two to get into the routine of reading this term, needing the initial assessments to group kids and also needing to be able to fit these sessions into our developing timetable.

what will I change?
Keep momentum, now we are up and running. Keep providing engaging texts related to students interests.
Take part in Professional Development sessions with Hilton to develop the programme further.

To Do List:
Learn comprehension and retell ability of texts
Use journals as a tool for reading
Use Hilton Ayery activities to strengthen understanding of text after group discussion.
