We began the basics in Te Reo Māori in term one and now let’s extend our vocabulary!!! Don’t worry if you are starting as a new student to lessons, we will continue to revise what we already know and work towards gaining more words to put into sentence structures. The more you learn the more games will be played to help you learn. We will also be looking at Maori Art such as Tukutuku and continue working on Kowhaiwhai which we started last term.

Ko te manu e kai ana te miro, nona te ngahere.
Ko te manu e kai ana te matauranga, nona te Ao!

Whakapākehatia/English Translation:
The bird who partakes of the miro berry, theirs is the forest.
The bird who partakes of knowledge, theirs is the World!

Te Ngako o te Whakataukī/Meaning of the Proveb:
Those who do only what they see around them, that is all they will know or do.
Those who educate themselves and gain knowledge, will understand & experience more of the World!
