Moving from stage 6 to stage 7 in Numeracy Project

This group is working at the middle to top end of stage 2.

Stage 1 of the numeracy project: moving from one-to-one counting to counting from one on materials.

We will be working on Yr 4 WordLab Spelling 4x per week.

With new learners joining HB Piwakawaka regularly, we will mainly focus our Tools for Learning sessions on learning how to use Seesaw.

The beginning of the term sees us in Covid-19 Lockdown.

The student will be working one on one with a teacher aide for literacy. The programme will commence in this order:

Over the course of this week we will focus on 'Shape'

Students will explore problem solving skills that use symbols, diagrams, words and numbers to explore and express ideas in position and orientation

We will be focusing on Fractions, in small groups 3x per week with students from Pukeko and Piwakawaka.

In seperate hbs these groups will work the skills listed below to develop strengths in;

Developing Fundamental Movement Skills using games and developing the skills with technical feedback for improvement.

Students will work three x a week with myself and with follow up mathsbuddy activities to develop skills that will include;

On Friday's HB Pukeko will spend some time focussing on tools for learning at Ao Tawhiti. Most of these sessions will be IT based.

Students reading at Purple are still developing fluency and expression, and still rely on decoding strategies frequently.

We are running an integrated literacy program where writing and reading are combined in the same session, 4 times a week.

This year reading groups will be a part of our integrated literacy programme.

This group has students who are reading from Level 24 up to Level 30.

In this term the HB will focus on instructional writing followed by explanation writing. This will link to our Dance inquiry this term. E.g.
